Creating a Harvest at Weir River Farm

For the second year, volunteers from Rockland Trust donned RockCorp t-shirts and sunscreen and spent a warm June day preparing an organic market garden at Weir River Farm in Hingham. Located on an early 20th century country estate in Hingham, Weir River Farm is a 10-acre working farm, one of the properties owned by the Trustees of Reservations. Rockland Trust volunteers prepared fields for planting, and also planted seeds and young transplants. Over the summer RockCorp volunteers have donated hours to irrigate, weed, cultivate and harvest vegetables. Organic produce from the farm is sold at Farmers Markets on the South Shore.
